Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy’s Call for Three Shifts in Infrastructure Sparks Debates on Work Patterns
Bengaluru: Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy has stressed the urgency of prioritizing infrastructure projects and advocated for the implementation of three working shifts instead of one, reported various media houses.
According to the reports, Murthy emphasized the need for the completion of the Electronics City Metro in Bengaluru and its expansion to areas densely populated with companies.
Speaking at the Bengaluru Tech Summit on November 29 in a fireside chat with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, Murthy urged the infrastructure industry to adopt a more flexible schedule beyond the traditional single shift, stating, “They should not work just one shift, come 11 am and go at 5 pm.” Additionally, he highlighted the importance of English medium schools to nurture talented resources for the city’s software industry, efficient infrastructure development, and prompt decision-making by the government, said the reports.
Murthy underscored Bengaluru’s significant contribution, accounting for approximately 35-37% of India’s total software exports, amounting to around $75 billion out of the country’s $200 billion total software exports, the news houses reported.
